Masterpieces in the Making

Over the course of three exciting days, 12 young people from Club Aslan participated in a painting workshop that made a significant difference in their lives as they enjoyed an opportunity that only through Club Aslan they have had. Beyond learning artistic techniques, the participants experienced personal growth, discovery and shared joy, which left visible marks on their attitude, confidence and enthusiasm.

At the beginning of the workshop, many of the young people were fearful and doubtful, as they did not know exactly what they would learn or what materials they would use. Some even expressed that they believed they would not be able to achieve what was proposed to them. However, from the first class, they were encouraged to try everything with courage, remembering that in the promise of Club Aslan they are invited to try new things. They followed each instruction with effort and attention. It was touching to observe how some helped others to better understand what they had to do, creating an environment of collaboration, fellowship and mutual learning.

From the first day, the commitment and responsibility with which the young people took on this opportunity were evident. They arrived on time, with a willingness to learn and an attitude of respect and curiosity that facilitated the development of the workshop. This level of motivation was pleasantly surprising and remained constant throughout the three sessions.

Thanks to the generosity of the project, which donated all the necessary materials, the participants faced no barriers to fully immerse themselves in the world of art. Each young person had access to cardstock, charcoal pencils, colors and professional canvases, acrylic paints, brushes and others, which allowed them to work with quality tools and feel like true artists from the start.

The workshop instructor, artist Andrea Gamero, enthusiastically commented that many of the young people showed remarkable natural talent. But beyond the technique, what stood out the most was the change in the way they saw themselves: at the end of each class, they looked more confident, happy with their achievements and surprised by what they were capable of creating.

"Many arrived saying they didn't know how to draw, but with each stroke and each color mix, they discovered that they could. Seeing their faces of pride and emotion when finishing their works was the most valuable part of the workshop," Andrea shared.

The culmination was especially emotional. The young people applied what they had learned to create a painting on canvas, a flower that they gifted to their mothers for their day. It was a moment of tenderness, but also of deep personal satisfaction. They had not only produced a work of art, but had also lived an experience of overcoming and emotional expression.

This workshop demonstrated that art not only teaches how to paint, but also to believe in oneself, to recognize dormant abilities and to develop discipline, sensitivity and gratitude. In the words of the participants themselves, it was "something they had never done before, but that they would repeat without thinking."

Club Aslan proudly celebrates this experience and reaffirms its commitment to creating spaces where young people can grow, explore their talents and build a more fulfilling future through creativity and learning.
