A Sunday School Makeover

We're always looking for ways to support the local churches and their efforts to teach the Gospel to the next generation. Recently, we had the privilege of working on a special project for Irma, a dedicated Sunday school teacher at one of the churches in our community.
Irma had come up with a creative solution to help her students learn the books of the Bible. She had used posterboard to create a list of the books but over time the posterboard had faded and fallen down due to the weather conditions. When we heard about Irma's idea, we saw an opportunity to help and decided to create a more durable and engaging "bookshelf" version of her resource.
Our goal was to design something that would be grown up enough for the shared space in the church yet still useful for instruction and engaging for the kids in Sunday school. The final design featured small laminated pieces that could be hung on the wall. Each piece represented a book of the Bible and was designed to capture the imagination. We used bright colors and simple graphics to make the "bookshelf" attractive to children while keeping the overall design sophisticated enough for the church's shared space.
I was able to put my graphic design experience back to work as I created the Bible bookshelf of my dreams, designing and arranging each piece. After printing them out, our volunteers stepped in to help laminate and carefully cut out the intricate pieces. It was a team effort that brought the vision to life!

The process of creating the "bookshelf" was a labor of love. After the pieces were ready, Steve, Sandra, and I installed the complete artwork by gluing the pieces to the wall. When we unveiled the finished project to Irma she was surprised and delighted with the results. It was a joy to see her reaction and to know that this new tool would be a helpful resource for her and her students.
Sandra was particularly proud of our installation because she managed to keep it a surprise for her sister, Irma!

This small project is just one example of the many ways that we at Team Solheim are working to support the local churches and their efforts to share God's Truth with the young people of Honduras.
