The La Esperanza Relief effort begins every week with a grocery list. Here's what's included in every package delivered to our poverty-stricken neighbors during the COVID-19 lockdown:

Beans - 2 lbs.
Flour - 2 small bags
Eggs - 5
Sugar - 2 small bags
Powdered milk - 1 package
Masa for corn tortillas - 1 small bag
Salt - 1 small bag
Shortening - 1 package
Spaghetti noodles - 2 packages
Coffee - 1 lb.
Margarine - 1 package
Sardines - 1 can
Tomato paste or sauce - 2 small packages
Chicken bouillon - 20 cubes
Toilet paper - 2 rolls
Soap - 1 bar
Laundry soap - 2 bars

This list may vary slightly depending on availability of some products. We've also included feminine hygiene products, diapers and bleach when we have special donations.
This package is supposed to feed a family of five for 15 days, according to the government. But we estimate it might last only a week, if rationed well.
