Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

God used this second-hand story to encourage us this week. It came to us from a church friend here in La Esperanza who related it during a long car ride. She has no idea how much it has meant to us.

Every Sunday, the church in Oloas (a rural church about 30 minutes from La Esperanza) gives the congregation an opportunity to share what God has done in their lives throughout the previous week. Steve and I weren't attending this particular church last Sunday when Elsie* proudly walked to the front of the church to share. Elsie is five years old. "I'm thankful to God for my English teacher, Steve," she announced. "This week I learned a new song in English." I can only imagine the roaring applause after she then let loose with a solo performance of Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes. I'm certain encores were encouraged.

Steve and his Kindergarten student, Elsie.
