Day of the Child is a national holiday celebrated in September in Honduras. Like Christmas in other countries, children anxiously await the day. Typically, they celebrate with gifts, parties, games and piñatas. But 2020 is anything but typical. Nevertheless, Steve and I did our best to make it special for our students, whom we haven't been able to visit in months because of the strict lockdown.
Since we can't all be together, the school's principal arranged for students to gather in small groups in five strategic locations around the village. We were able to drive around and deliver packages filled with candy, prizes and even the supplies for a little craft project. But the real fun was finally getting to see our kids after all this time!
