Empowering Parents: Education Starts at Home

“I am nobody special. My father was a coffee farmer, and we grew up with nothing.” This is how our guest speaker introduced himself to the parents of the rural village that we have been working in for the last 6 years. Enoch has managed over 100 people and an enormous annual budget in a flagship ministry. He's well-educated and professional. Even so, he is still able to relate to those who are struggling (and often failing) to provide for their families year after year.

When we were asked by the teachers at the school where we serve to bring in a speaker to encourage parents to partner in the education of their children. We knew just the man for the job. Our friend and co-worker, Enoch, was able to make the cross-country drive on a moment’s notice. He delivered a great message to the parents on how the development of their children begins with them and that they are the pivotal key in unlocking their children’s future.

Over the years we have been watching Enoch’s passion for empowering the family grow. A father himself, he's worked with other ministries to empower parents and deepen the child-parent relationship. In a nation of poverty, corruption, violence and fatherless families, we're grateful for leaders like Enoch. His inspiring message were what we hope will be the first step in reaching out to the parents of the students we serve every day.
