English is a required class at all Honduran schools. However, the severe shortage of English speakers means that students in rural schools rarely receive quality instruction. We're not teachers, but we speak English and that makes us uniquely qualified instructors. We work two days a week in a rural public school teaching children from ages 5 to 15. We also teach an adult class for church leaders and ministry partners one evening a week. We've even developed a curriculum based on our own language-learning experience. While we work toward language proficiency, we focus our energy on building strong relationships and sharing our Christian values.

Though we were reluctant to take on this role, we've been amazed at how God has used teaching English to open doors for ministry in our community.
